As you may know, Diablo Cody writes the show, and where some may have found her screenplay for Juno to be over-the-top (I liked it, but I can see where there'd be issues), in "Tara", the creative energy is more focused and put to perfect use. Each of Tara's "alters" are able to spew famous Diablo one-liners without it seeming forced at all.
One of the best things about the show is how it takes its odd premise so nonchalantly. It doesn't force a backstory on us, and it allows its troubled characters to live within their world and exist like real human beings. Every character is so well played by the supporting cast and it's as bittersweet as it is hilarious.
If you haven't started watching this show, please try to! Tis wonderful!
This week's episode was one of the best of the season, I think. Collette is wonderful as any of the alters, and Buck is one heck of a guy. LOL
ReplyDeleteWill always remember his introduction.
Oh my gosh. In total agreement. If I didn't think that the show already had pretty decent ratings for a premium cable channel, I totally would've picked this as well. It's such a brilliant show. And the little-known plus to it all is that though Collette is the major draw and stand-out, Brie Larson and Rosemarie Dewitt are both delightful as well! Good choice, my friend. :)
