Aw, Glee!

I just want to take a few moments to talk about how proud I am of Glee after last night's episode! I haven't blogged about this season at all yet, mainly because I've neither hated it enough to rant (like last season...hehe), nor have I loved it enough to rave. I've never loved Glee enough to rave, until today!

Yep, last night's episode was really, dare I say it, great! I've been kind of bored with Glee lately but after last night, I have hope for its future. It was just a really solid episode - the songs were flawlessly incorporated into the narrative, and all of the little subplots were balanced super well; both issues that former episodes have had. We even got a nice dose of Jane Lynch, and Chris Colfer, who's been a bit one-note as of late, really did some great things with his rather dynamic subplot.

So, props! The only bad thing was that I thought Gwyneth Paltrow was supposed to be on last night, so I kept waiting for her to show up and she never did. Then I found out that she's not on 'til next week. Alas! Just something more to look forward to.

So what did you all think of last night's episode? I'm really impressed. A golf clap for Glee. Hehe.

Can you believe that I'm not ranting...awww!

OMGLEE

Well peeps, if you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you know how I have a love/hate relationship with Glee, emphasis on the hate. In fact, you can read all my thoughts on last season of Glee by clicking here. Anyway, so, watching the season premier today on Hulu, I was expecting it to be everything that I remember hating about Glee. You know, the convoluted storylines, horrendous acting from Matthew Morrison, and yeah, the good stuff too.

But...*gulp*...I was proven wrong.

The season premier was actually......

...ya'll are gonna laugh at me...

...GREAT.

I know, c'est shocking! But, yes, I loved it. From the beginning sequence that pretty much made fun of everything I hated about the show last season, to the very emotional "What I Did For Love" sung beautifully by Lea Michele, it was just great. It was so funny, the storylines were realistic and pleasantly structured, and Matthew Morrison didn't make me want to barf! Yea!

I really like the new characters as well -Coach Bieste was very well portrayed as both sympathetic and insecure. Very nice. Sunshine and that blonde kid are cool, and I like that Mike Chang finally is being recognized. He's got lines now! Yea him!

Perhaps Glee has finally settled into what it wants to be, and its more focused direction in this season premier gives me great hope that this season may actually be really, really wonderful. But, let me not speak too soon. Who knows what could happen in the next few episodes...we all know how ridiculous the show can get in a short period of time. ;)

The one problem I did have with the premier though - WHERE WAS JAYMA? :'(

Have you seen the premier yet? Are you all wallowing in my love for the premier? Sound off below!

I hate to say it...but...

...I just saw a commercial for next week's season premier of Glee and...

I'M ACTUALLY EXTREMELY EXCITED.

And, Modern Family starts next week too! Hoorah for my television shows!

TV Meme Days 20-23

Alright, so I missed several days. I sincerely apologize! This 30 day meme thing is fun, but it ain't easy. :P

Day 20: Favorite Kiss

It's weird that I'm choosing this as my favorite kiss, because I absolutely hate their relationship and do NOT want them to get together. But for some reason the kiss at the end of the first half of the first season of Glee between Will and Emma was extremely...hm...memorable? It's the first that came to my mind, anyway, and it was successful in making me want to keep watching the show to find out what the HECK would happen. Anyway, I hate their "ship" but this kiss was the one good thing about it. Haha.

Day 21: Favorite 'Ship
I didn't even know what on earth a ship was, until Andrew did his post about it. And now it makes sense, it's short for "relationship". Duh! Haha! Anyhoo, I know of one particular couple I just can't get enough of - which would be Henry and Casey on "Party Down". They're perfect for each other, yet completely imperfect at the same time - and they make one of the best comedy-couple-duos on TV (besides maybe Cam and Mitchell from Modern Family).

Day 22: Favorite Series Finale

Hm. I haven't seen enough series from beginning to end to have a real favorite series finale. I have several favorite season finales, but none that ended their series. And though I could mention the finale of "Party Down" this season due to the fact that it's not quite guaranteed to come back, I don't want to jinx anything. ;)

Day 23: Most Annoying Character

TV Meme Day 19: Best Television Cast

A few blurbs on great casts, since again, one is not nearly enough. I hope you like my midnight meme posts. This meme never ends, does it!?

Glee - I don't like every member of this cast (namely Matthew Morrison and Cory Monteith, sorry guys) but every week is filled with great work from almost everyone else. Jane Lynch and Jayma Mays are consistently wonderful when they actually get a chance to be on screen, and Lea Michele gets better each week. More thoughts on Glee

Modern Family - There is not a single weak link in this cast. From the youngest to the oldest, each member is hilarious and adds perfectly to the show. It helps that they're given such great material to work with, of course. Standouts are of course Eric Stonestreet, Sofia Vergara, and Rico Rodriguez. More on Modern Family

Party Down - Again, not a weak link. Even when they lost Jane Lynch, Megan Mullaly came to be brilliant and hilarious. Every actor milks their roles and besides being wonderfully funny, they're all so sincere and human too. Mas de Party Down

United States of Tara- Oh, Toni Collette is brilliance as usual, but her supporting cast is not to be outdone. I particularly like Brie Larson, Kier Gilchrist, and Rosemarie Dewitt...oh, and Don Corbett is always great. See, that's the whole cast right there...I love them all so much, in a sick way I wish they were my family. Haha! Read about my love for US Of Tara

Spongebob Squarepants - Seriously, everyone! Really, this show simply has some of the best ensemble voice acting ever. Every voice is so memorable, whether you like the show or not, and they interact with themselves so well and realistically. Oh how I love this show. More on that Sponge that lives under the sea

The Office - Grrrr I love this cast so much, I wish they'd all do more beyond this. Jenna Fischer in particular is just lovely and every character is so perfect. There's no way this could have been cast any better.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - If you haven't seen this show, you should check it out. It's hysterical. Not for everyone, but still amazing. The cast is just so remarkably out of control you wonder how they can take themselves seriously and not break out laughing while they're working. So, so funny and amazing. It's like if a cartoon took crack and became a live action sitcom.

So there you have it. :) Enjoy! Sorry for the lack of non-meme posts, it's kind of draining my brain. Haha.

TV Meme Day 15: Favorite Female Characters

I'm playing catchup! So here's 10 great female characters. Again, no in-show repeats and mucho recent shows since I'm kind of new to the whole "television" thing (whaa? Television? wazzat?! haha.) Anyway, enough babbling...here you go:

(Oh, I hate to single out just one from The Office...Jenna Fischer and Phyllis Smith are both amazing also, but Kelly is just...hilarious, always!)

Again, comment below on your favorite female characters! :)

TV Meme Day 14: Favorite Male Characters

I couldn't pick just ONE! So, I present to you, 10. I'm cheap like that. This was difficult though! Do realize, this was tricky, since I'm not repeating characters from the same show. Also, I've only been avidly watching television recently so most of these characters will be sort of recent. :) The lovely ladies are coming later since I'm running late, again.

(Okay so he's not exactly a character but he's my favorite contributor to Infomania! Which you all should be watching by now... ;P)

Well there you go. Comment below! Agree? Disagree? Go crazy!

TV Meme Day 10: A Show that I Liked Even Though I Thought I Wouldn't

So, there's one show that's a great(ish) example of one that I thought I'd hate but then ended up loving. And that show is GLEE.

Now, by now, you guys should know how I feel about Glee. I have a love/hate relationship with it now, sure. But when I first started watching the show on Hulu, after all the hype and the HUGE ads, and the promise of Jane Lynch, I was ridiculously disappointed. I felt the characters were complete stereotypes (the footballer, the theater geek, the gay kid, the black diva, the cheerleader) and I could not stand the auto-tuned voices of the singers.

However, for some odd reason (I attribute it mostly to Jane Lynch, though she's surely not the only reason), I kept going - I kept watching episode after episode. Until, finally, somehow, I fell in love with the show. I couldn't wait until the next week's episode and that season finale just left me hanging on the edge of my sofa.

Even though I rant about Glee a lot, I still quite love it for some inexplicable reason and compared to the hatred I had for it near the beginning, it's really redeemed itself.

Liveblogging Glee...Kinda

I'm trying something dif for my weekly Glee post (my Gleekly post? Too much?). I'm going to watch it on Hulu and write my thoughts as I go along! That's awesome, isn't it? Yeah. I thought so. I highly apologize for being overly cynical. I hope it's not too boring...but...enjoy peoples! ;)

  • 00:30 - Thirty seconds in, and Mercedes says that she thinks they have a shot at regionals. WELL DUH! YOU PEOPLE CAN LOOK AT A PIECE OF MUSIC FOR TWO SECONDS AND KNOW A FULL SONG AND DANCE ROUTINE FOR IT!

  • 00:31 - Now that I think of it, I kind of forgot this show was about that. Go figure.

  • 1:12 - Riiiiight, like the rival school would really come in full costume to show off. Okay, I really need to suspend my disbelief a bit more with this show.

  • 3:00 - This reminds me of when my room got TPed at music camp once. It was like, the most exciting thing ever. HAHA

  • 3:30 - JANE LYNCH! I've missed you so...so much.

  • 5:40 - Terri! I've missed Jessalyn Gilsig as well. She's really, really good at making her horrendous character so sympathetic. (6:11) and she was just PHENOMENAL in that scene. I hope this doesn't mean the end of her character.

  • 9:30 - Will is buying drugs? Seriously? The writers were that much out of ideas? Though it's believable.

  • 10:52 - Will's funk monologue was horrendous. *shudder*

  • 11:25 - Nice! Quinn is apparently going to get something juicy to do. Woohoooo

  • Ca. 15:23 - I'm not even going to ask what just happened. O_o

  • 17:43 - How come Puck gets a guitar and Fin only gets a broom?

  • 18:48 - Yea Terri.

  • 23:37 - All that spinning can NOT be good for those unborn babies. I feel about as weird about this as the kids in the glee club, but Dianna Agron is handling her spotlight very well.

  • 25:54 - "Your date's not coming. You got stood up." Who is that actress and why is she so awesome?

  • 26:16 - Your relationship with Emma? How is that going? Because I haven't seen Emma in about three episodes. :'(

  • 29:50 - Drinking game idea: take a shot every time someone says "funk". (for those of you who are of age, of course! teehee)

  • 31:00 - This is the cutest thing ever! Mercedes and Quinn moving in togetherrr!

  • 34:47 - Duuuude this is wrong on soooo many levelllssss. How could they throw eggs at Rachel? She was so happy! And she was great in that scene, by the way. Oh, and also, the eggs don't have fetuses in them! Vegans don't eat eggs because of how poorly the egg-laying chickens are treated!!! Sorry, rant. :P

  • 35:40 - Aghhh Lea Michele is just determined to make me regret dissing her acting. She just was amazing in that egg scene. And, I feel sorry for her vegan nightmares. :(

  • 36:50 - I would love to see Chris Colfer do a 14 minute Celine Dion tribute in French. :)
Wow, I really liked the "We Got the Funk". Anyway, the episode as a whole was pretty fine. Again, it didn't do a whole lot for me, as the show hasn't been recently - though I liked how it brought Jane Lynch back, and remembered some of the previous storylines. I'm glad it did that. Really glad.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed my comments, leave your own below! :)

Caught in a Bad Romance...

...with Glee.

See, even though it makes me feel grossly unsatisfied each week, I just can't stop going back episode after episode.

The story is going nowhere, at this point. Honestly, the show has really changed from the first half of the season. During the first season, as I'm sure you know, there was a driving storyline. This season, it's become a "different mini plots each episode" type of thing. I'm not really sure which one I like more.

Though season one was absolutely ridiculous, at least it made me really wonder what was going to happen next. Now the storylines are a little bit more...plausible, but each episode is so static.

Admittedly though, this week's episode was probably one of the best in a while. Though it perhaps wasn't as full of Gaga songs as I was hoping, the two that they did perform were both done very, very well. Poker Face was especially unique, and Bad Romance was just great. The costumes were also a lot of fun.

The inclusion of Kiss was also very interesting, as they're very similar in the "theatricality" aspect as Lady Gaga.

On an acting standpoint, Lea Michele is continuously proving me wrong, and getting better and better. Idina Menzel is just AMAZING, she can haz Emmy nom? Kurt's dad was great in this episode (though do you really expect me to believe that they'd move in together after two episodes? Please) and Matthew Morrison is as annoying as ever!

But, I am getting SICK of the absence of Jayma Mays and especially Jane Lynch. These writers do not REALIZE how much talent they are wasting! I don't know if they just can't be written in due to scheduling conflicts or if they're just simply being overlooked for other story elements, but either way, I really miss them. :'(

Otherwise, I'm going to keep watching Glee because I've come this far. I recently heard that it was picked up for a third season...yikes, is all I can say. The writers can barely propel themselves through this half of the first season. Oh well, whatever happens, happens I guess! I'll keep watching until I completely give up hope on it.

Oh, and Asian vampires ARE the most fierce of all!

Feel free to sound off about this week's Glee down below! Part of the reason I do this weekly column is to stimulate discussion. So, please, stimulate AWAY!

Some Random Thoughts on GLEE

So I'm behind! Sue me! haha. So...yeah. Here are some stream-of-consciousness ramblings on the most recent episode of Glee...

  • Omg...Molly Shannon and John Michael Higgins rocked it! That was easily the best part of the episode.
    "Hi...my name's Brenda..."

  • On that note, I'm beginning to like the guest stars more than the actual cast - Idina Menzel was really, really good in this episode. More, please!

  • I realized why I can't bear to watch some parts of this show. Because, if some of this stuff happened in real life...I would just barf. Like, the piano man singing in the bar? Awkwarddd...

  • Can we please get that Mike Chang kid a subplot? Oh and Brittany too. Did you see them dancing in that fantasy dance sequence? Yikes, tha's some talent right thar! Anyway it's not fair. :(

  • EMMA...too bad she was only here for about two seconds. She needs more to DO.

  • So does Jane Lynch. When she and NPH had their little moment it was like fireworks! The show is really giving her the short end of the stick these days. Why aren't they utilizing her talents?!?

  • Lea Michele has been getting better and better each week, now that the writers are finally starting to give her some decent material to work with. Keep it up, my dear Lea.

  • I really like the principal. Am I the only one? lol.

  • Apparently Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, Lady Gaga, and Susan Boyle are in talks for guest appearances. I hope those happen. It would be even better if they could get Kate Gosselin on for a guest appearance (sarcasm! though she was entertaining on Dancing with the Stars).

Okay. Well, that was really random and unorganized but twas my thoughts on the show. I'm really starting to wonder why I watch it anymore - Jane Lynch doesn't get enough to do, and I neither passionately hate or love it, as I used to. So my motivations are starting to become lax...

Anyway! I'm done. Now off to catch up on Modern Family. Muahahaha!

Obligatory Glee Post!

Not that I feel obliged to YOU guys to make a Glee post, but that I feel obliged to satisfy my own selfish need to talk about Glee.

ANYWAY! So, yeah, I'm finally caught up with the other night's episode, and I have to say...

I didn't really hate it?! Or rather, there was nothing in it that I hated. There's usually something in every episode that either disgusts me, annoys me, or just makes me want to jump out a window. This time, I was actually pleasantly surprised.

And there were some wonderful moments! Lea Michele gained a few points in my mind, she was really good this week. She nailed the comedic bits with her lost voice and her subtle turns with the paralyzed dude were REALLY sincere and, dare I say, perfect. Good job Lea! Keep it up!

Maybe I was wrong about you, Lea...

I also thought that the writers sort of ACTUALLY managed to deal with all of their subplots with equal importance and success. On that note though, the entire episode was based on new material. Where was EMMA? What's up with Sue these days? Are regionals even happening? One kind of shocking thing was that Will was just there as a catalyst to the other subplots - and isn't he the main character of the show?! (I'm not complaining though...the less of him the better ;)

Grrr Emma should have been in this episode! She should be in every episode!

Oh and I quickly want to mention a few notable moments of acting. Kurt's singing "Rose's Turn" was GREAT, though the scene it was in was kind of...poorly put together I thought? Though it wasn't bad. I just didn't think it did justice to his performance. I also must say that Santana and Brittany are really, really spot-on whenever they're onscreen. I really like them, their characters just aren't very important.

Anyway, so...positive points for Lea, Chris Colfer, the writers managing to do something sort of right right for once, and no Will! Negative points for neglecting Emma, the previous subplots of the show, and...(sigh) no Will, because he IS the main character.

What were your thoughts on glee? I love hearing everyone's opinions on this show.

The Glee Cast...From Best to Worst

In case you guys didn't already know, I have a sort of love-hate relationship with Glee. Even though its first season had an absolutely ridiculous and utterly annoying storyline, at least it had a storyline. Now, it feels like it's becoming a forced mess! Olivia Newton John was great, but what was the point? Thus, in order to fulfill my need to both rave and complain about glee, here's my hierarchy of the Glee cast, complete with commentary...

1. Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester (Duh. She's just amazing)

2. Jayma Mays as Emma Pillsbury (Her "you're a slut" monologue in the other night's episode was just brilliant, she gets better every week)

Love!!!

3. Jessalyn Gilsig as Terri Schuester (her character is horribly written but she actually was able to make me feel sorry for her. I wish she had more in this new season)

4. Heather Morris as Brittany (her lines aren't some of the funniest in the show for no reason!)

5. Amber Riley as Mercedes Jones (I like the sass, and she gives it heart)

6. Chris Colfer as Kurt Hummel (He was great in the coming out episodes and he's still entertaining, though his character gets less and less to do as time goes on)

7. Naya Rivera as Santana Lopez (Her sort of snarky attitude is quite enjoyable)

8. Dianna Agron as Quinn Fabray (She's inconsistent but that's the writer's fault. When she's good she's really good)

Yea for potential!

9. Mark Salling as Noah Puckerman (He's funny sometimes, but I don't really care about his character at all)

10. Lea Michele as Rachel Berry (Again, inconsistent. And, her character is so annoying. Am I supposed to like her, or what? But she definitely has some moments)

11. Jenna Ushkowitz as Tina Cohen-Chang (I loved her when she sang "I Kissed A Girl", and her angry tirade against Artie, but she's n-n-n-n-not amazing and her character barely gets anything to do)

12. Kevin McHale as Arty Abrams (I give him credit for dancing in a wheelchair but...whatever)

13. Matthew Morrison as Will Schuester (Mehhh. I dunno. His romantic scenes are cringe-worthy, his character is blah, and "Ice Ice Baby" the other night made me want to barf)

Ugh...

and finally...

14. Cory Monteith as Finn Hudson (He has two modes, whiny and angry. Maybe it's just the character, and he seems like a nice enough guy, but...for the "main" teenage character, he's just not charismatic enough!)

So there you go. That's just my opinion! I want to hear yours in the comments. Any time I watch Glee I just feel like I need to rant. But I also need to make it clear that I feel that Jane Lynch and Jayma Mays are both absolutely brilliant. Emmy noms, PLEASE!

Open Glee Thread

Yeah. So right here, this post, I'm opening to all your thoughts about last night's episode of Glee. If anyone has any.

I just don't even know where to start, it just gets more and more convoluted every week! I'm almost going past the point of forgiving its ridiculosity. And Emma didn't even show up last night :(((

Jane Lynch did have some really good moments, and Kristen Chenoweth was also nice. But it's really that there's no driving storyline, subplots are ignored for episodes at a time...Eeeek! I'm so conflicted. I love it but I hate it. And this second season or whatever it is, it's just even more outlandish than the first.

I mean, how many times can they fit teary eyed confessions into one 45 minute period???

So share your thoughts below...maybe I should be more forgiving but things are just getting crazy. Pardon my rantyness!!! :P
